All foreigners who wish to stay in the TRNC for more than 90 days, are required to obtain a residence permit. Entry to and departure from the TRNC is possible through designated ports and border crossings with a valid passport or travel document.

Is north Cyprus Open to Tourists?

Foreigners visiting the TRNC may be granted a visa up to 90 days, depending on its type, at the designated ports and border crossings, provided that they fulfil the conditions stipulated in the Aliens and Immigration Law and they are not deemed unfit to enter the country.

The length of stay granted at the designated ports and border crossings of the TRNC cannot exceed 90 days within a period of 180 days. All foreigners who wish to stay in the TRNC for more than 90 days, are required to obtain a residence permit.

Entry to and departure from the TRNC is possible through designated ports and border crossings with a valid passport or travel document.

Type and duration of the visa issued to the foreigners is stamped on the travel document by the Immigration Officers. Foreigners’ stay in the country cannot exceed the date stamped on their travel documents and they cannot use the visa for reasons other than its original purpose. For example, working with tourist or student visa is considered as visa violation.

BELLAPAIS MONASTERY

Bellapais Abbey is the ruin of a monastery built in the 13th century by Canons Regular on the northern side of the small village of Bellapais, now in Northern Cyprus, about five kilometres from Kyrenia.

The ruin is located at an elevation of 220 meters above sea level and commands a panoramic view of Kyrenia and the Mediterranean Sea.

The location is also a museum with a restaurant and a cafe. The refectory of the Abbey is now used for concerts and lectures. It also serves as a venue for a local music festival in the early summer.

Famagusta, also known as Gazimausa, is a city on Cyprus's east coast. It's famous for its well-preserved Venetian walls from the 15th and 16th centuries, which are surrounded by a now-dry moat.

The top of the moat provides panoramic views. The Porta Del Mare gate features an iron door and a winged lion statue. The massive, honey-coloured Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque was built in the 14th century as a Gothic cathedral.

Kantara Castle is a fortified structure in Northern Cyprus. The precise date of its construction is unknown, with the Byzantine period being the most likely candidate. It combines Byzantine and Frankish architectural elements, fell into disuse in 1525, and was demolished in 1560. It was named after the nearby Kantara monastery.

Buffavento Castle is a fortified structure in Northern Cyprus. The precise date of its construction is unknown, with the Byzantine period being the most likely candidate. It combines elements of Byzantine and Frankish architecture. It became obsolete in the 14th century.

The Kyrenia Mountains are a long, narrow mountain range that runs for about 160 kilometres along Cyprus's northern coast. It is mostly made of hard crystalline limestone, with some marble thrown in for good measure. Mount Selvili, at 1,024 meters, is its highest point.

There are two ways to fly into Northern Cyprus. One option is to fly directly into Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus, which means you will need to briefly touchdown at a Turkish airport on the way. Another option is to fly into Larnaca Airport in the southern part of Cyprus.
